MAWA rents a property from Leicester Housing Association.  The property is maintained as part of our agreement with Leicester Housing Association and the refuge is supported by specialist Project Workers .

MAWA operates an open door policy, which means that if we do not have bed space, we will provide overnight refuge until other suitable accommodation can be found.

We regretfully cannot always provide refuge for women with active mental health problems, or women who abuse drugs or alcohol, as this is dependant on current circumstances.  Referring agencies should contact us with details.

Women are referred to MAWA from both voluntary and statutory organisations and via self referrals. Our public telephone number can be found on this site, the phone book, or we can be contacted through the Police, Social Services or the Samaritans.
